lyrics

This Job Is Killing Me

I’ve been grinding hard each day
Digging dirt along the highway
Trying to bring home some pay
Not enough to make my way
Sweating hard is such a drain
Feels like a ball and chain
All this talk about being free
This job is killing me

Promise you it’s gonna be
The biggest job you’ll ever see
No more trouble, no more strife
We’re gonna be set for life
Finally going to quench my thirst
If it doesn’t kill me first

Now I’ve got a better gig
Pulling long hauls in a big rig
Up all night popping pills
Doesn’t seem to cure my ills
I’m gone the whole week through
Takes me away from you
All this talk about being free
This job is killing me

Promise you it’s gonna be
The biggest job you’ll ever see
No more trouble, no more strife
We’re gonna be set for life
Finally going to quench my thirst
If it doesn’t kill me first

Nothing to it, it’s no lie
It’ll be as easy as pie
Hijack a truck, load of gold
Don’t get nothing if you’re not bold
What if there could be some risk?
Just in case, give me one last kiss
All this talk about being free
This job is killing me

Promise you it’s gonna be
The biggest job you’ll ever see
No more trouble, no more strife
We’re gonna be set for life
Finally going to quench my thirst
If it doesn’t kill me first

about

Shorty and the Mustangs Portland, Oregon

Shorty & the Mustangs was formed in 1996. Big Tex called some of his musician friends to see if they wanted to try something new. Having grown up in Texas, western swing music was calling him home. So they dug out some old Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb records and gave it a shot. The last 10 years the band has created original material with Mr's Wills and Tubb as inspiration.See below and enjoy! ... more
