about

This song was inspired by all the dancers who have come out to see us over the years here in Portland (Stumptown). Especially those who showed up dressed to the nines in period Rockabilly or Western gear.

lyrics

Saturday night think I’ll go down town
See if the ladies are hangin’ round
They got tattoos and poodle skirts
Jet black hair and they like to flirt.
These gals like bourbon and cigarettes
If you buy ‘em a drink they won’t forget
Its in the clubs that they do their thing
They do a little something called the Stumptown Swing.

Chorus:
Glide for me honey on that dance floor
Swing for me baby as the crowd cries out for more.

The gals in boots black and red
With cowboy hats upon their heads
They just can’t help but to move their feet
When the band pounds out that jumpin’ beat.

Oh the joint is packed but they’ve made some room
Just watch the gals swingin’ to the tunes
Hear that steel yes they hear it ring
As the drums beat out that Stumptown Swing

Chorus:
Glide for me honey on that dance floor
Swing for me baby as the crowd cries out for more.

Saturday night think I’ll go down town
See if the ladies are hangin’ round
Its in the clubs that they do their thing
They do a little something called the Stumptown Swing

about

Shorty and the Mustangs Portland, Oregon

Shorty & the Mustangs was formed in 1996. Big Tex called some of his musician friends to see if they wanted to try something new. Having grown up in Texas, western swing music was calling him home. So they dug out some old Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb records and gave it a shot. The last 10 years the band has created original material with Mr's Wills and Tubb as inspiration.See below and enjoy! ... more
