about

Words Music: Mike Moore. This song is about a particular period in the writers life. Mike recalls; " My 85 year old Mother fell and fractured her spine. I had to return to my home town and spent six weeks there tending to her every need. In the mean time my wife remained 3,000 miles away but was chiming in daily, my formidable sister was on hand and a number of female friends from my distant past were all there to lend support. I was struck by how powerful/difficult/wonderful/frustrating they all were as they helped me care for my Mother. They presented me with challenges regarding who I think I am and also who I was as a younger man. Building me up and tearing me down, all in one exchange. There were originally several more verses that discussed all of them. They were paired down to these three. The first to my wife, the second to an old friend whom I used to pick on as a teen and the third was written to handle the other ladies after I realized I didn't want a nine minute song!"

lyrics

Ain't she something? What a beauty
Ain't she smart? What a cutie and she's
Breakin' my heart
Here she comes there she goes
She's a woman on the go and she's
Breakin' my heart
Picks me up tears me down
But picks me right up off the ground and she's
Breakin' my heart
Why she loves me I don't know
But it happened long ago and she's
Breakin' my heart

Chorus:
These righteous babes are wearing me down
I love 'em all but they ran me out of town
These righteous babes are grinding me low
But I still love 'em all don't you know.

She's an artist and she thrills me
but the stuff she says just kills me and she's
Breakin' my heart
I was cruel when I met her
but she won't see I got better and she's
Breakin' my heart
Busts my chops, cuts me down every time I come around and she's
Breakin' my heart
She was right, I was wrong and I knew it all along and she's
Breakin' my heart.

Chorus:
Solo:

Aw the women they can cut ya
They can truss you up and gut ya and they're
Breakin' my heart
I was smart, they were smarter
I was cute but they were cuter and they're
Breakin' my heart
So there now I said it
though I know I might regret and they're
Breakin' my heart
I'm so glad that I know 'em
But I don't think I can show that they're
Breakin' my heart

Chorus:

about

Shorty and the Mustangs Portland, Oregon

Shorty & the Mustangs was formed in 1996. Big Tex called some of his musician friends to see if they wanted to try something new. Having grown up in Texas, western swing music was calling him home. So they dug out some old Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb records and gave it a shot. The last 10 years the band has created original material with Mr's Wills and Tubb as inspiration.See below and enjoy! ... more
