lyrics

You've been away for such a long stay
And I just sit and stare
At the leaves coming off the trees
Floating in the air
Some of them do loops
Others seem to soar
Some just fall like a stone
And hit the forest floor
We said some things that were meant to sting
That I wish we could unsay
You left mad and I felt bad
Afraid you'd run away
Some of them do twirls
Others seem to dive
Some just tumble head over heels
Trying to stay alive
The falling leaves carry me along
Like a poem
And I was just wondering
When you're coming home
I spend my time making rhymes
For a song I'd write for you
Then I hear your steps so clear
And I know you missed me too
Some of them do flips
Others blow so high
Some perform amazing tricks
Make my heart strings sigh

about

Shorty and the Mustangs Portland, Oregon

Shorty & the Mustangs was formed in 1996. Big Tex called some of his musician friends to see if they wanted to try something new. Having grown up in Texas, western swing music was calling him home. So they dug out some old Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb records and gave it a shot. The last 10 years the band has created original material with Mr's Wills and Tubb as inspiration.See below and enjoy! ... more
